I have lots of feline visitors. I have one that has adopted me. He/she lives on the porch… and yes, I now feed her too. Yeah, somehow she’s become a she to me, there’s something very feminine about her. and yes, I’m falling in love with her. She has the cutest little face with the most adorable meow to go with it.

Today my friend IM’s me. He’s moving in with his girlfriend tomorrow (just for the summer so he can save up enough money to buy a house) and the guy who agreed to take care of his cats backed out yesterday. His girlfriend has asthma so the cats can’t come with. So, they’re living in my garage until he either finds a temp home for them or he’s going to come back and help me clean out the basement enough to make it cat proof/friendly. He was talking about giving them up for adoption if he couldn’t find a solution. I’m a softy. I couldn’t bare the thought. He rescued them when they were kittens and took each and every flea off them one by one because they were too young for chemicals.

They’re starting litigation today.

I had another dream last night that my parents were still alive.

So, the insurmountable laundry room has been conquered! That may not sound like a big deal, but trust me, it was. I also put the living room curtain back up.

My aunt said she’s ready for a change and she’s having a time of it where she is, so I’m trying to convince her to move here and live with me. She’s actually considering it. Yay!

My new lawyer said I can keep the house. Yay!

I love my job!

My new job, class and this house have been keeping me pretty occupied these days.

I love my job. I haven’t so much been learning as absorbing. On my second day, I was already using sql to update the database, which apparently really impressed my new boss and I finished my first css page almost completely by myself on Monday. Yay me.

I’m taking a client side web programming class (Dynamic HTML, Javascripting, XML, and css). I was added late to the class and it’s only taught every other week. I missed the first night, the following week the other class was being taught so I couldn’t even really talk to the professor much (I didn’t get the impression he really wanted to anyway), and then we missed this week because of the snow and ice. grrrr. I really wish they offered this class on-line.

Speaking of ice and snow. The frigid temps apparently froze the drain pipes for the sump pump which made for a really fun day yesterday – actually, today too. When I woke up yesterday, I realized my basement was flooded. Joy. Not. At least the water didn’t get as high as did the last time. But still, I had to wade through 6 inches of ice cold water in duck boots that were too big for me, so eventually the water got inside them. Then I had to try and reassemble the sump pump and all of it’s assorted pipes, which meant submerging my hands in ice cold water. Once I plugged it back in, it just popped right back off the top and created and nice little geyser. Luckily, I have a portable, back-up sump pump that I was able to assemble fairly quickly. Of course, it works at snail speed. By around 11:30pm the water was low enough for me to go back into the basement and try reassembling the sump pump and various connecting pipes again. This time it worked perfectly. This means I’m going to have monitor the pipes outside to make sure there aren’t any icicles built up in it.

OK, so, just as I finish up and I’m getting ready to go to bed, I realize I have no hot water (just as I realize the house has gotten really cold). Now, I ordered oil to be delivered today, so now I’m thinking I’ve run out of oil. This morning I called to find out when the oil will be delivered. The last time I got oil, they showed up at 8:00am. No such luck this time. So I rescheduled for tomorrow and go to work. Of course, my super,cool boss scolds me and sends me back home to wait for the delivery dude and lets me work from home (btw, have I mentioned how much I love my new job?). The delivery comes and the guy comes in to bleed the line. Nope, not out of oil. (It cost me $25 to hear him tell me that I wasn’t out of oil.) OH shit!! So I call the number on the little label on the boiler/furnace and luckily there’s still a maintenance plan on it. It turned out that water got in the line, so the lines needed to be bled out longer.

Phew.
